Originally established in 1957 on Pakistan Railways land as the Railway Public School, the institution went through a brief transition before reopening in April 1961 under its true title, Abbottabad Public School. Founded under the guidance of its first principal, M. A. Rahman, the school was modeled after classic British boarding institutions to deliver a balance of competitive sports, academic focus, and military-grade discipline.
